If the printer driver is available to both the Windows 2000 Server as well as the local computer running Windows XP or the Terminal Services Client remote session, then look in the available printers and you will see your local SHARED printer in the Windows XP remote session or the Terminal Services Client. This is the easy way to print remotely. An alternative method would of course be to use a TCP/ip printer server at the remote clinic, along with the investment to allocate static IP addresses or using a VPN (Virtual Private Network). In this scenario, these shared printers would be available to all computers on the network. This would be a more expensive solution, so I would not use this method initially. It is recommended Terminal Server Client users start with the first EASY method and see if this works for them. Only then should a user consider an additional investment of a VPN or static IP addresses at the remote location.
